ALTÉ FASHION – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BEING AN ALTÉ

Coined from the word alternative, Alté is the new wave in fashion,(not entirely new to some) especially here in Nigeria where people who wear mom jeans, fanny pack, crocs and every other unusual outfit you can think of have been termed “Alté ” due to their different/alternative way of dressing.

While it’s not yet a wide spread term in fashion, some people find it offensive when referred to as alté probably because it has been associated with being a miscreant (in Nigeria).

However, being alté does not limit you to a particular mode of dressing; street style, formal or informal. As a matter of fact, being alté has to do with your type of style and as long as your outfit/style is not part of the norm seen everyday, consider yourself an alté chic!

Alté is not new in the fashion world and regardless of who gets offended or not when referred to as an alté, there are people who see themselves as alternatives when it comes to fashion.

Alté Outfits :

– Fishnets

– Scarves/durag

– Brogues

– Mom jeans

– Comic/Inscription Tees

– Fanny Pack, etc

Are you alté?

What’s your take on the term?

Will you feel offended if someone called you alté?
