Tips to style pleated skirt

Pleats are such lovely design pattern to wear anytime, any day and they never go out of season as they’re versatile and most times, easy to style.

These were my exact thoughts as I walked through the stalls and crowd in the market in search of the perfect pleats skirt. I almost felt it was its season when I caught sight of a vendor pouring out a full bag of velvet pleats in different colour and sizes- blouses, skirts, trousers and bodysuits.

I was amazed as I never thought people in Port Harcourt were into such fashionable pieces and that was how I got to purchase this pretty skirt that I love!

Pleated skirts are versatile in the sense that you can literally dress it up or down to achieve different looks and for different occasions, either by wearing a sneakers, tee shirt, sweater or a blazer – the options are endless.

Tips to Style

– Always opt out for one that goes below the knee so it gives more structure and doesn’t look like a skater skirt.

– Wear a fitted blouse with your pleated skirt as this will create a good transition and also highlight your features.

– Pleated skirts can sometimes look too big but if the waist belt is elastic, you can drag it to the front or back in order to get your desired composition.

– For the DIY lovers, you can add a mesh or lace to the hem of your skirt to give it extra details.
